Cape Peninsula Infant Hearing Screening

Established in 2000 by two audiologists and a paediatrician, CPIHS is the only private practice in South Africa dedicated exclusively to Newborn Hearing Screening (NBHS). Recognising a critical gap in early hearing detection, the founders launched the programme at two hospitals in Cape Town’s Southern Suburbs 25 years ago.

Today, we provide DPOAE and AABR screenings at seven hospitals across Cape Town, reaching 200–250 newborns each month. Our strong referral network ensures timely diagnostic follow-ups for babies flagged with potential hearing concerns. At the heart of our service is rigorous record-keeping and a commitment to minimising loss to follow-up.
