FoodForward SA, established in 2009 to combat widespread hunger in South Africa, bridges the gap between excess and need by recovering quality surplus food from the consumer goods supply chain. Over 80% of the recovered food is nutritious and is distributed to community organisations serving vulnerable populations.
In the 2023/2024 financial year, FoodForward SA distributed 87 million meals, reaching 920,000 people daily through a network of 2,500 beneficiary organisations across the country. This was achieved at an incredible cost of only R0.47 per meal, thanks to the unwavering support of donors, partners, and volunteers.
