Sakhisizwe Digital Education

Our programme is aimed at closing the ever-growing gap between urban and underprivileged learners, as we all witnessed during the COVID-19 lockdown. We want to also activate parent-learner academic support by training parents to be competent in assisting the learner. This we do using ICT tools to make technology accessible, impactful and enjoyable. Our programme is still in pilot phase and operating in Lady Frere, Eastern Cape, at a school named Mzamomhle that has about 250 learners. Due to issues such as funding limiting us to these ICT tools, we have started with literacy development, using unemployed rural youth with Grade 12 as facilitators in an aftercare service. Once we gather enough resources, we will be able to roll out the programme to its full potential.
