The Empathologist Foundation

The Empathologist Foundation is a South African non-profit organisation dedicated to empowering women and families navigating difficult parenthood circumstances, with a particular focus on mothers who have placed their children for adoption. Founded by a Spanish–South African couple whose own adoption journey revealed the deep, often unseen struggles of biological mothers, the Foundation was built on the belief that no woman should face such challenges alone. Operating primarily in Cape Town, the Empathologist offers tailored programmes that foster resilience, independence, and opportunity. Their initiatives span skills development and employability training, mental health counselling, trauma-informed care, and practical assistance such as childcare, safe housing, and job readiness support. By walking alongside each beneficiary, the Foundation helps them reclaim their sense of self and chart a hopeful future. Since its inception in 2024, they have impacted the lives of more than 25 women and their families, demonstrating the profound ripple effect of empathy in action.
