The Restore Justice Healing Hope Trust

RESTORE is a South African organisation working to transform responses to crime, violence and incarceration through restorative justice and trauma-informed practice. Founded in 2012, RESTORE works with young people in prison, formerly incarcerated people, their families and communities, recognising that harm affects individuals, relationships and wider communities. Our mission is to create pathways from harm towards accountability, healing, dignity, belonging and positive change. We deliver restorative justice programmes inside Pollsmoor Correctional Centre, support reintegration beyond prison, facilitate Healing and Peace Circles with families and communities affected by violence, and build capacity through trauma-informed and restorative practice training. Our work also includes participatory action research, prison journalism, storytelling, youth and community initiatives, and advocacy.
