Tshepong was established in 1996 to combat the stigma around disabilities, to provide day care for persons with intellectual disabilities specifically. Today the organisation provides early childhood education hand in hand with the Department of Education, childhood nutrition, basic health care, skills development and vocational training to persons with intellectual disabilities, and re-opened a protective workshop in 2026. We provide rehabilitative services with a multi-disciplinary team, therapy and ongoing support in activities of daily living. We provide opportunities for young adults to do job sampling, get into learnerships and gain skills to make them employable or to do crafts according to their abilities. We provide psychosocial support to families and do capacity building of caregivers.
