The “Country Profiles for Early Childhood Development” are developed by UNICEF in collaboration with Countdown to 2030 Women’s, Children’s and Adolescent’s Health. The country profiles attempt to compile in one place, the available data for country and cross-country monitoring. Refer to the Technical Appendix in the full report for more detailed information on the indicators, including the rationale for including the indicator, the definition of the indicator and the data source. An initial set of 91 country profiles was released in May 2018, alongside the launch of the Nurturing Care Framework. Subsequently, a decision was made to expand and update the profiles for 138 low- and middle-income countries in 2019. In 2020, the existing profiles for 138 countries were updated and new profiles were developed for 59 high-income countries yielding profiles for 197 countries. These profiles were duly updated in 2021 and 2023.
